arnaud family history is revealed in the pΓ’tisserie information in the graymire tag on the town page. **this family is french and moved to gothic in 2010. the bought space previously occupied by an older bakery called "ma's". when ma's closed due to bankruptcy caused by the owners, the mitchells, many citizens of gothic blamed the arnaud's believing that they pushed them out, a theory that was not corrected by the mitchell family who is still bitter they lost their space and business.

the elrod family
the elrod family is well known in gothic because of gilbert elrod, the former gothic mayor. he served only one two year term because he was caught in a scandal that angered the entire town. gilbert elrod had been funneling money through two charities in the mayor's office. the end game of the money was to rid gothic of it's supernatural status forever. citizens felt that gothic losing the one thing that made it unique would tank the tourist economy. they voted him out in 2022 and he was ordered by a judge to turn over the funds he'd improperly claimed through the charities. his family, involved or not involved, have not had the best reputation in town since.

the herrera family is one of the most beloved families in town. they moved to gothic in the 1960s and opened a small pharmacy in devil hills that now has a location in every neighborhood. the town prefers their quaint pharmacy over the chains in town, especially after the herrera patriarch saved two young girls from drowning in gothic lake in 1972. while he passed away in 2013, devil hills residents swear they still see him at the pharmacy and out on walks. the pharmacy is still in the family though it's success has landed most of them very nice homes in graymire. **this family is mexican.

jessup family history is revealed in the purgatory putt putt information in the historic downtown gothic tag on the town page. *marlene jessup is an infamous witch in town, famous for planting stories in the rag against other witches because she wanted to be seen as the most powerful. many kids skipped her house during trick or treat while she was alive. her family has been dealing with being associated with marlene's intensity for years, often feared just by association. whether or not they have some screws loose like marlene however, remains to be seen.
the katz family
the katz family is an often gossiped about family because in 2015 they won the mega millions lotter, for over 400 million dollars. they made a big scene of it and moved right into graymire. they lived it up for two years, throwing lavish parties, traveling and otherwise flaunting it. come 2021, they were another lottery winning family to declare bankruptcy. they sold they house in graymire and moved to dead ridge. this is a very sore subject for each family member.

langley family history is revealed in the gothic casino information in the devil hills tag on the town page. *the langley family has been tied to the zimmerman family since 1976 when gordon langley and matrice zimmerman wed. the families own the casino together and remain closeknit and guarded of their secrets.
the mitchell family
the mitchell family has been in gothic since the 1920s. their bakery called, "ma's" was famous for their delicious donuts and cakes. in late 2022, the bakery closed after 40 years of serving gothic and was taken over by a new pastry shop called, "pΓ’tisserie". gothic citizens blamed the new family for pushing the mitchell's and forcing "ma's" to close. in reality, the patriarch of the mitchell family mismanaged the expenses and forced them into bankruptcy. the family decided not to correct the assumptions about the arnaud family to save face in hopes they'd get their space back.
the mcdowell family
the mcdowell family is one of the two out of six founding families left in gothic. their reputation is not as prestigious as the alderburg's as several mcdowell family members were tied to a mob-like crime ring in the 70s. it is said that crime ring has been wiped out but there are always rumors surrounding them.
the morton family
the morton family is the family of the current mayor, jacob morton. morton was elected in 2022, ousting gilbert elrod. the job of the mayor comes with pressures of the town and it is very important the family meet expectations as well. **this is a black family.
the shukla family
the shukla family is active in almost every area of the town: the arts, business & medical community primarily. they have been in gothic for four generations and they have no intentions on moving and planting roots elsewhere. the only scandal in this family's history occurred in 2014, when 49 year old adya shukla was caught slipping love potions into the drinks of government officials in town. she never provided a motive for her actions, but many people the shukla's were hoping to attract policy makers who could help them obtain land they've hand their eye on in phantom point. **this is an indian family.
